About the course

Longer Long Bob with Layers for Wavy Hair is a women's cut in which Dalibor Hajdin keeps the length and weight at the bottom and builds layers only where they need to remove weight, add shape and support the waves. The result: a cut that stays long and solid at the bottom, with plenty of texture on top.

The course walks through the whole process step by step: from checking the cowlicks and the strength of the hair, through diagonal sections to the occipital bone, the horseshoe and radial partings, to cutting the back short to long with point cut at 45 degrees and pivoting, then carrying the guideline to the sides with overdirection to the first section. After that comes a fringe fitted to the cowlicks, texture with twist curl cutting, a light razor cut at the roots for volume and drying with a diffuser.

  • How to check cowlicks and hair strength before cutting, and what that means for your technique
  • Diagonal sections no wider than the comb, clipped lightly so the parting does not shift
  • Parting the head into profile, horseshoe and radial, and the rule: below 90 degrees is graduation, above 90 is layering

  • Carrying the guideline from the radial to the sides with overdirection to the first section, and switching the point cut direction

What hair does the course show?
Shoulder-length wavy hair with a long fringe and a stronger cowlick on one side. Dalibor Hajdin says the same shape can be repeated on longer and shorter hair.
At what angle are the layers cut?
The back and sides at about 45 degrees, short to long, with point cut. The bottom sections of the base are cut with natural fall and no elevation.
What does pivoting mean in this cut?
Cutting successive sections around one centre, like slicing a pizza. Each section base is no wider than the comb, and every new section is pulled to the previous one.
How do you add volume at the roots?
With twist curl cutting on twisted strands and a light razor cut at the roots. It removes very little hair, and the shorter hair underneath lifts the hair above it.
How do you dry wavy hair after this cut?
Apply matte paste or cream to wet hair, diffuse with circular movements one area at a time, and finish with cold air at the roots.
