What is an online hairdressing course?

An online hairdressing course is a recording of a whole service. The educator starts with the client consultation, sections the hair, works through the cutting or colouring technique and finishes with the styling. The camera sits close to the hands, so you see the angle of the tool and the point where the length changes.

The material is for hairdressers and barbers at every level: 42 courses build the fundamentals of shape, 64 show specific haircuts and technical variations. You watch in the browser, come back between clients and replay a difficult passage as many times as you need.

Where to start

For beginners

The basic courses build shape: graduation, layers and clipper work. Without them the advanced variations have nothing to stand on.

For advanced hairdressers

The advanced courses are specific haircuts and technical variations for someone who has the fundamentals in hand and is looking for their own signature at the chair.

Educators

You learn from hairdressers and barbers who still stand behind the chair. Below are the ones with the most courses, the full list is on the educators page.

Frequently asked questions

What are online hairdressing courses at Connected Hair?

They are video recordings in which an educator runs a whole service: the consultation, the sectioning, the cutting or colouring technique and the styling at the end. The Academy holds 106 such courses and 145 hours of material. You watch them in a browser, on a phone or on a computer.

Are the courses suitable for beginners?

Yes. 42 courses sit at basic level and that is where most people start. The remaining 64 are advanced: specific haircuts and technical variations for someone who already has graduation in hand.

Are there barbering courses online?

Yes. Men's hairdressing is the largest part of the Academy: taper fade, burst fade, crop, mullet, clipper work and disconnection. Barbering also covers the beard courses: shaping the contour, freehand technique and cutting a long beard.

How much do they cost and can I cancel?

Pro is $59 a month, or $349 for a year paid up front, which works out at $29 a month. The full comparison is at https://connectedhair.com/en/join. You cancel yourself in My account, and access stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for.

How is this different from an in-person workshop?

At a workshop you see one technique on one day, from the second row. Here you have 106 courses from 32 educators, a close camera and the option to rewind to any moment. Travel and accommodation drop out. An in-person workshop gives you the educator's hand on your work and a live model, which a recording does not replace.

Where do I start?

With the basic courses, because they build shape: graduation, layers and clipper work. Once those three sit in your hands, the advanced courses become readable, because they are variations on the same foundation. The full catalogue with filters by technique is at https://connectedhair.com/en/academy.

How long do I keep access to a course?

For as long as the plan runs. The monthly subscription keeps access open while you keep paying for it; the yearly plan is charged once a year and renews until you cancel. We do not cap the number of views, so you come back to a course as many times as you need.

Are the courses in English?

Yes. The whole site runs in English and courses include English audio or subtitles.

106 courses. 145 hours. One plan.

You start with one technique, and the whole library stays with you, along with every release that follows.
