Middle Part
Men's Middle Part cutting course for hairdressers. Damian Zakrzewski shows how to create a light, square form on hair with excess weight, using an original sectioning method.
Result and process
About the course
Middle part is a classic men's haircut which, in this course, we build on hair with excess weight at the back and a tendency to flick out at the nape. The goal is to achieve lightness, structure, and natural movement that the client can easily recreate at home. The course shows how to work with intention to simplify the cutting process, ditching a thousand separations in favour of logic and precision that actually works.
Damian Zakrzewski guides you through the entire process step by step: from diagnosing the head shape and nape, through an original sectioning method from the highest point of the head to the ear, all the way to building a square form at the back that optically fills out the sides. The work is done on sections held perpendicular to the head, with continuous repositioning of the body, which is key to maintaining clean, square geometry without rounding the corners.
In this course you'll see
- An original sectioning method from the highest point of the head to the ear - why this method prevents hair "gaps" at the back when styling a middle part
- Building a square form at the nape strand by strand, to optically fill out the sides and control flyaway hair
- Working with a stationary guide split in half - how not to lose the cutting line and maintain precision throughout the entire haircut
- Why body position and moving along with the strand being cut is essential to creating a square, not a rounded form
- Using a texturizing knife to soften the ends and reduce weight without losing length - when and how to use it so you don't damage the hair
- Full styling using sea salt and powder to achieve a light, natural "wind-swept" look
After watching this course, you'll start approaching classic forms in a simplified and logical way, focusing on efficiency rather than complicated sectioning. You'll learn to build a stable, square foundation at the back, work with intention to manage weight using a texturizing knife, and create haircuts that not only look great fresh out of the salon, but also style easily for the client at home.

1:4701Sectioning from the highest point
Experience has taught us to section the head from the highest point down to the ear.
4:5002Technique for cutting the square form
To cut a square form, we always have to work in a straight line.
11:4803The danger of rounding the form
If we go through it this way, at this point we'll round off what needs to stay square.
17:4804The key role of the stationary guide
Without a stationary guide, if we don't leave ourselves half a centimeter, we'll lose our way.
25:3005Correct body position when cutting the sides
As I move along, I automatically shift forward and cut.
30:1806Deciding to leave the fringe untouched
As you can see, we won't be touching the fringe at all - we're leaving it as is.
40:1607Texturizing with the texturizing knife - a warning
You have to be careful with a texturizing knife. It's a brilliant tool, but it can damage the hair.
45:0008Styling - lightness and naturalness
This haircut is meant to be light, as if wind-blown - as natural as possible.
