Warrior Cut
The Warrior Cut men's haircutting course. Learn how to precisely build a relaxed, "messy" shape using scissors only, basing the entire cut on triangle and circle geometry.
Result and process
About the course
Warrior Cut is a men's haircut that looks relaxed and "messy," but is actually the result of precise planning and shape control. This course shows you how to build this shape from the ground up with intention - no clippers, no rigid templates, and no random decisions, basing the entire process on triangle and circle geometry.
Hubert Mika guides you through the entire process: from consultation and translating client needs into a cutting plan, through logical head sectioning, to final texturizing and styling. The work is based on horizontal and radial separations, which allow you to control hair weight at the nape and crown, maintain the haircut's width, and achieve lightness and fluidity of shape at the same time.
In this course you'll see
- The full process of building the shape using scissors only - no clippers involved
- Working sections based on geometry - when to use the triangle to build width, and when to use the circle for smooth transitions
- Using radial (fan) separations to control weight at the crown and create a soft shape
- Intentionally building a vertical shape - how to remove weight at the nape and create the signature "waisted" taper at the neckline
- Personalizing the nape and sideburn contours with a Razor to achieve a natural, choppy effect
- How to run a consultation so that questions about length and volume translate into a concrete cutting plan
- Styling with a diffuser on straight hair - how to bring out texture without "freezing" the haircut
After watching this course, you'll stop copying templates and start designing "messy" haircuts with intention, based on geometry and client needs. You'll learn to control width and volume without clippers, and texturizing techniques with the Razor and scissors will become your tools for creating natural movement in the hair. This is a working system you can also apply to mullets and other forward-styled cuts.

2:0501Key question: length or volume
Are you talking about the length the hair reaches, or the volume and amount of hair at the back?
12:4802Working the circle horizontally
I'll be working the circle horizontally here, so after every cut I move around the chair.
18:0903Creating the triangle at the crown
I wanted to create a subtle triangle, which is exactly why I'm tilting my model's head down quite a bit.
24:2504Hand technique for building the triangle
Remember to keep your knuckles pressed against the skull.
49:0505Choosing the technique for the 'messy' effect
At this point I decide to switch to point cutting to get that messy effect.
1:00:5906A warning when cutting the fringe
If we were to pull this hair taut, the end result could turn out different from what we intended.
1:11:5407The purpose of using the Razor
I work with the Razor during personalization to get a natural, choppy effect.
1:17:4108The philosophy behind 'messy' haircuts
All these messy haircuts share one thing - they're messy, they should look choppy.
