Meet Michał Lewiński, founder of the Męski brand, who, with his passion and determination in the men's hairdressing industry, transformed his winding career path into one full of success and continuous development.
The result and the process
What you'll learn
How to cut a round shape, following the curve of the head without any redirects.
How to use layering effectively to add volume to the back of your hair.
How to use a comb as a tool for determining head shape.
How to transfer measurements when working in vertical and horizontal sections.
How to style curls using hair clips and a diffuser to control volume.
How to deconstruct the form in a dry run to ultimately reveal the client's face.
The Circular Curly Cut is a cutting technique designed for thick, tightly curled hair that tends to get out of control. The course demonstrates how to use circular cutting and strategic layering to transform excess volume into a three-dimensional, modern style that accentuates the natural curl while also framing the client’s face. It is a comprehensive process, from wet cutting to the final dry styling.
Michał Lewiński guides you step by step through the entire haircut process, starting with sectioning the head and marking the disconnection line. He demonstrates how to work with sections without redirecting them, following the natural curve of the head so that each section is the same length—this is the key to creating a clean, rounded shape. You’ll see how to transfer length from the back to the sides and top, working methodically in vertical and horizontal sections.
In this course, you'll learn:
- A circular cutting technique, where the key is to follow the curve of the head without any redirects
- Deliberately creating volume at the back as a way to add lightness to the hairstyle while maintaining its length
- How to use a comb as a diagnostic tool to determine the angle and direction of combing a strand of hair on the curves of the head
- Working on the vertical (top) and horizontal (sides) sections to convey length and maintain the coherence of the form
- A styling method using clips and a diffuser to keep the top flat and bring out maximum curl along the lengths
- Final deconstruction of the style on dry hair – using scissors along the outer contour to frame the client’s face
After watching this course, you’ll stop seeing thick, curly hair as a problem and start seeing its potential for creating modern, three-dimensional styles. You’ll gain the skills to consciously control volume, bring out natural curls, and customize the hairstyle while it’s dry, giving your client a look that lasts day after day without complicated styling.
What's inside
Full access to the course
Active combing during separation
“I pressed down hard on the end of the comb with my finger, and the comb guided me to the designated spot.”
Using a comb to map the head
"If you hold a comb up to the client's head, this angle shows me the shape of their head."
The critical point when cutting a circle
"We're in a very critical spot here; you'll have to rely heavily on the comb."
Head shape and skull orientation
"Notice whether the direction of the line reflects the shape of the skull more than its orientation."
Changing the direction of the web
"The pull of the band is now moving in a completely different direction than in the upper part of the band."
Styling with hair clips before blow-drying
"I'll use hairpins because I want the top to be flatter and the curls to fall naturally from the bottom."
Dry deconstruction of a circle's shape
"Now we can say that we're gently deconstructing our circle a bit."
The "head-in-the-clouds" effect
"The cut really flatters our backs without creating a rounded, feminine silhouette."
