Geometry and Elevations
A Middle Part haircutting course for hairdressers who want to master this form systematically. Michał Daniel teaches how to work with intention using geometry, elevation, and disconnection to create light, balanced hairstyles.
Result and process
About the course
Middle part is a haircut that only looks simple. In reality, its success depends on the conscious use of geometry, elevations, and disconnection, which together build a proportional, light form. The course shows how to approach the middle part systematically-as a universal technique for both women and men, where every angle and section division is a planned decision, not a reproduction of a template.
Michał Daniel guides you through the entire technical process-from analyzing the head and dividing it into four clean panels, through building the foundation on the back panel, to blending the top with the sides and final personalizing. A key element here is the conscious use of disconnection-not as an effect, but as a tool for slimming down the form, giving it character, and controlling weight in the nape section and around the sideburns.
In this course, you'll see
- Building the form step by step using three geometries: a vertical triangle and horizontal circle at the back, a triangle and square on the sides
- The conscious application of disconnection in two key areas-the nape section and the sideburns-as a tool for creating lightness and character
- Working on the top panel in a horizontal triangle shape to naturally build volume at the parting
- The technique for blending the top panel with the side panel in a large, horizontal section, working in graduation for a seamless transition
- The principles of building the haircut's foundation from the back panel and carrying the length over to the sides as the starting point for the entire form
- Dry personalizing-softening the ends and weight line using point cutting without disturbing the built shape
- A full styling routine for a wet, "runway" look using tonic, a shine product, and hairspray to lock in the details
After this course, you'll start treating the middle part not as a single hairstyle, but as a geometry-based system you can adapt to different hair lengths and types. You'll learn to work with intention when controlling weight, use disconnection to build character into the haircut, and manage the entire form from foundation to final details-turning random movements into precise, technical craft.
What you will learn
- 01How to analyze the head shape to consciously plan the entire haircut.
- 02How to build the form by combining different geometries across the head's panels.
- 03How to consciously apply disconnection at the nape and sideburns to create lightness.
- 04How to seamlessly blend the top panel with the side panel by working in graduation.
- 05How to work on the top panel in a triangle to build natural volume.
- 06How to personalize and soften the form on dry hair using point cutting.

0:3301Analyzing the problem-excess weight
There's a lot of weight on the side panels. The fringe is elongated-it's not working proportionally for me.
8:5502The key role of choosing the right length
Choosing the length is actually one of the key things. We can use great techniques, but still get the length wrong.
12:5203Working principle-don't cut without a baseline
Listen, the main rule: if we can't see the baseline, we don't make the cut.
27:5504Blending the side section with the back
In my fingers, I can see the last length from the back panel, and that will be my guide.
33:1505Planning the geometry of the side panels
I'll work in a vertical triangular shape, and horizontally I'll build myself a square.
35:0606Building the triangle on the top panel
Now I'll pull section number one toward section number two.
39:3407Creating disconnection at the fringe
We have a section where two lengths are visible: one in disconnection and the other blended with the rest.
58:1508Personalizing-softening the weight
First, I'll deal with the weight that's building up in the upper occipital area.
