Queens Pompadour
A men's haircutting course on the Queens Pompadour for hairdressers. Learn to build a bold shape on wavy hair by combining geometry (triangle-square-triangle) with a modern Taper Fade.
Result and process
About the course
Queens Pompadour is a signature men's haircutting technique that combines precise geometry with the hair's natural movement and curl. The course shows how to build a bold shape on wavy, hard-to-style hair through a deliberate transition between shapes - from a triangle at the nape, through a square at the occipital area, to a triangular shape that preserves length at the fringe. The whole look is finished off with a dynamic Taper Fade that gives the haircut a modern, clean line.
Paweł Pollheimer guides you through the entire shape-building process step by step: from analyzing the head shape and mapping out a round horseshoe from the cowlick, through building the horizontal shape with elevation - with a square at the occipital area and a triangle at the fringe - all the way to blending sections vertically and executing a precise Taper Fade. The course puts a strong emphasis on working with the hair's natural curl, treating it as an asset rather than an obstacle.
In this course, you'll see
- Building the entire shape based on a sequence of geometric forms: from a triangle at the nape, through a square at the occipital area, to a triangular shape that preserves length at the fringe.
- A technique for working with elevation using your own body as a reference point - when to direct the comb toward the chest (square) and when toward the stomach (triangle).
- Work on the top, redirecting all sections into a single central stationary guide to build volume and preserve length on the sides.
- The full process of executing a Taper Fade with clippers - from establishing the zero line, through working with guards, to cleaning up the line-up with a trimmer.
- A deliberate choice to leave weight and disconnection behind the ear, highlighting the natural flip of the wavy hair.
- A hybrid final styling: blow-drying the fringe and sides with a brush for smoothness, and using a diffuser on the crown and back of the head to boost the natural curl.
After watching this course, you'll start using geometry with intention to build personalized shapes, turning wavy hair from a challenge into a creative tool. You'll learn how to combine precise scissor techniques with clean clipper fading, creating haircuts with a distinctive character that clients can easily recreate at home by working with their hair's natural texture.

Full access with the course
1:0701Planning the shape of the entire haircut
The whole shape will go from triangular, through rounded, square, and triangular again.
7:0802Changing the shape at the temple area
From the point where the head starts to round off, we'll shift this shape more toward a triangle.
10:5303How posture affects the shape of the cut
If we want to build a square, we direct the comb toward the chest, or the sternum.
17:0004Technique for redirecting the top sections
I'll be working section by section, redirecting each one to this central guide.
26:1705Creating intentional disconnection
We'll leave this part disconnected - if it ends up too long, we can always shorten it at the end.
40:4906Choosing styling products
On the top and back of the hair, we'll apply curl cream to gently enhance that curl.
53:5607Fading with the step-down technique
We can also use the step-down technique - starting with guard four, and now three and a half.
1:02:3608Being careful when closing the clipper lever
I don't want to close it any further now, because there's a risk I'll just create another line.
