Flattop

The Flattop is an icon of old-school men's barbering - a haircut built around a perfectly flat, square top and precise fading on the sides. The course shows how to turn this technically demanding shape into a repeatable, fully controlled process, from foundational hair molding to the final freehand scissor work.

Mikołaj Maćkowiak guides you through the entire process step by step, starting with the element he himself calls the longest and most important: prepping and molding the hair to extreme stiffness. You'll see how to mark the highest point of the head as an axis for the comb, how to set the length of the top based on a stationary guide from the fringe, and then build a "sketch" of the whole shape with clipper-over-comb, before moving on to fading the sides and blending everything together.
