About the course

Textured Mod is a contemporary take on the classic men's haircut, built entirely with scissors - no clippers, no sharp contours, no single-length blueprints. This course shows how to work with intention through shape, layers, and graduation to create a haircut with natural movement, controlled weight, and a square outer frame that's fully wearable day to day.

Mateusz Banaszek guides you through the entire design process: from analyzing head shape and hair growth, through sectioning based on anatomy, to work on the back of the head-where layers create lightness and selective graduation builds weight over the occipital bone without drifting into mullet territory. Work on the sides is about building a stable square, while the top is about intentionally introducing texture as a structural element, not just a finishing touch.

Is this course suitable for beginner hairdressers?
This course is designed for hairdressers who already have the basics of cutting down and want to develop their scissor-work skills. Techniques like shape building, working with layers, and graduation require a certain level of experience.
Do you need clippers to create this haircut?
No, the entire construction of the haircut is built using scissors only. Clippers only appear at the personalization stage to clean up contours on the nape-not to create the shape.
How long is the video material?
The full course runs 88 minutes. It covers the entire process, from the client consultation, through the detailed cutting stages, to the final styling and a discussion of the technique.
Does Mateusz explain how to avoid a "mullet" effect with a longer back?
Yes, this is a key element of the course. You'll see how to use layers to add lightness and selective graduation to build weight over the occipital bone, so the haircut has a longer nape line without turning into a mullet.
Will this technique work on straight hair?
The course shows work on hair that starts to wave slightly once texture is added. However, the foundation is building a square shape, so these principles can also be successfully applied to straight hair with sufficient length.

The essential tools are scissors and a comb. For finishing and personalization, the educator also uses texturizing shears, clippers with a guard, and a diffuser, but the entire shape is created with classic scissors.
