Chinese Razor Technique
A men's mullet haircut course, executed entirely with a Chinese razor. Learn to build a modern, textured shape on flat hair, without using scissors or clippers.
Result and process
About the course
Chinese Razor Technique is a comprehensive men's haircut where the Chinese razor (feather razor) stops being just a personalization tool and becomes the primary instrument for building the entire shape. The course shows how to transform straight, flat, and lifeless hair into a modern, textured mullet hairstyle, built on intentional work with irregularity and movement.
Marek Krzyminski guides you through the entire process step by step: from a precise sectioning system based on head anatomy (the bisector, the mastoid process), through building an elongated back using the 90-degree layer technique, to creating weight on the sides through heavy graduation. The course shows how to strategically introduce disconnection between the side and back to achieve the mullet's signature longer hair behind the ear, while keeping the whole shape cohesive.
In this course you'll see
- A complete A-to-Z haircut using only the Chinese razor - no clippers or scissors
- Strategic disconnection behind the ear as the key to building a modern mullet shape
- Working on the back using the 90-degree layer technique with controlled elongation below the occipital bone
- Building weight on the sides through graduation - when to comb from above and when to comb up from below so weight accumulates over the curve of the head
- Cutting the fringe at zero tension to prevent it from "springing back" once dry
- The razor "scraping" technique on top in a triangular shape to remove weight from the crown while preserving fringe weight
- Diffuser styling with sea salt to maximize natural texture and irregularity
After watching this course, you'll start using the Chinese razor as a full-fledged creative tool, not just for finishing touches. You'll understand the philosophy behind working with this tool - where balance and proportion matter more than a perfect line - and learn to work with intention to build dynamic, movement-filled shapes that bring straight, flat hair to life for your clients.

1:4501The Mullet Hairstyle Concept
This will be a hairstyle with an elongated back in a round mullet style.
8:2402Wrist Movement at the Occipital Bone
As I pass the occipital bone, I'll gently start tilting my wrist toward myself.
14:2703The Goal of Razor Work - Irregularity
When working with the Chinese razor, we can't expect regularity.
29:0004Safety When Working with the Razor Near the Skin
Check whether any moles on the skin could be damaged by the Chinese razor.
39:0805Introducing Disconnection Behind the Ear
At the division point between the sides and the back, I introduce disconnection.
51:0206Cutting the Fringe Without Tension
I'll be working at practically zero tension so the hair doesn't spring back.
58:1407The Razor Scraping Technique on Top
I hold the Chinese razor so I can scrape with my thumb and the blade.
1:14:0808Why Style with a Diffuser?
The diffuser cuts off the airstream - it doesn't blow the hair around, but gives it just the heat.
